OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER

STAGE 1 -
ARRIVAL AT NEW HEIGHTS

The first stage is all about you getting settled and starting to feel safe.

  • You’ll have time to get used to your new home, meet the staff and learn the routines.

  • We’ll support you to decorate your room and make it your own space.

  • Staff will sort out the boring admin things with you (paperwork, appointments, school/college links etc.)

  • Most importantly, we’ll take time to get to know the real you – your story, your interests, what makes you feel calm, and what you want for your future.

As a young person in care, you deserve the right to have a say in your own future. From the start, we’ll listen to your dreams, ambitions and skills and build your plan around you.

We can’t promise to make everything happen exactly how you imagine it, but we will be honest, support you to set realistic goals, and work with you to move towards them.

STAGE 2-
YOUR LIFE PLAN IS IN PLACE AND YOU ARE TAKING PART IN ACTIVITIES OR OTHER PLANNED STEPS

Once you’re settled, we’ll work together on your development, at a pace that feels right for you and that’s appropriate for your age.

This might include:

  • Career ideas & planning – exploring jobs, training or college options

  • Education – support with school, college, tutoring or alternative education

  • Life skills – cooking, budgeting, self-care, travel, and independence skills

  • Personal development – confidence, self-esteem, relationships and identity

  • Therapeutic support – access to wellbeing or therapy input if needed and agreed

We work closely with other organisations who offer training, work experience and volunteering opportunities.
These opportunities depend on things like your risk assessment, your engagement with us, and what’s safe and appropriate for you at the time.

Sometimes we might even do unusual or fun challenges for charity or personal growth – things that are carefully planned, risk assessed and supported – because trying something different can build confidence and help others too.

STAGE 3-

YOUR PROGRESS/ PLAN IS REVIEWED REGULARLY

We don’t just make a plan and leave it — we keep checking in to see how things are going.

  • You’ll have regular reviews with staff and your wider team.

  • We’ll talk about what’s going well, what isn’t, and what needs to change.

  • You’ll always be encouraged to share your views and say if something doesn’t feel right for you.

Your plan is not fixed – it can grow and change as you do.

STAGE 4-
Next Steps & Moving On

This stage is about planning what comes next when you’re ready to move on.

Depending on your situation, this might mean:

  • Returning to your family or another family-based placement

  • Moving to another provider that’s right for your next stage

  • Moving into semi-independent or independent living as a young adult

  • Or setting new, more challenging goals to keep building your skills and experience

You’ll be involved in planning your next steps.

As long as your goals are positive, safe and in your best interests, we’ll work with you and other professionals to explore realistic options and support you towards them
